Located in Kensington, a neighborhood facing long-standing challenges related to disinvestment and gentrification, the Forman Arts Initiative uses art and collective activity as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization. FAI acquired an entire block on North American Street to establish a campus for art production, exhibition, and community engagement, with the goal of strengthening local cultural and socio-economic networks. The project was developed in collaboration with multiple artists, with Theaster Gates playing a key role in shaping the vision.
